Ex-President Jonathan urges FG to support stampede victims, advocates preventive measures
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the Federal Government to provide comprehensive support to the victims of the recent stampedes in Ibadan, Okija (Anambra State), and Abuja.
In a Christmas message released on Monday, December 23, Jonathan described the incidents as deeply unfortunate and urged authorities to implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
Addressing the nation, Jonathan said, “As we navigate through this painful period, I encourage all Nigerians to show compassion and solidarity, especially during this festive season.”
He emphasized the need for prayers for the victims and their families, while highlighting the significance of unity and care during the Christmas season.
“Christmas is a time of love, unity, and hope. It reminds us of the importance of caring for one another and working towards peace and harmony in our communities,” he stated.
The former president also extended warm wishes to all Nigerians, encouraging them to remain hopeful and resilient in the face of challenges.
“I wish all Nigerians a Merry Christmas filled with joy, peace, and love. May the new year bring renewed hope and prosperity for us all,” he concluded.
