The family of Adiat Abiola Babatanisewu is urgently appealing to the public for help in locating their missing mother, whose whereabouts have remained unknown for nearly three weeks since she left her residence.

PUNCH Metro gathered from the family on Monday that the 56-year-old mother has been missing for almost three weeks after she left her apartment at Harmony Estate, Aboru, Lagos State, and has not returned since.

The missing woman’s son, Abiodun Babatanisewu, told PUNCH Metro on Sunday evening that, despite numerous efforts to locate her, there had been no sign of her whereabouts since she left her residence on December 17, 2024.

He revealed that his mother had been battling health issues, including insomnia and other ailments, and the family had been actively providing medical care to manage her condition until her recent disappearance.

Abiodun recounted that on the day his 56-year-old mother went missing, one of his uncles had sent her some money, which was delivered through his father shortly before her disappearance.

“We have been treating her for a while now. She has been suffering from insomnia and other ailments, and she has been unable to sleep,” Abiodun explained

Before that, one of my uncles sent her some money. Our youngest sibling was later sent to buy groceries to restock the house. However, by the time he returned, my mother had already left the apartment.

Before leaving, she reportedly told my sister’s fiancé that she was stepping out briefly to get something nearby. Tragically, she never returned and has not been seen or heard from since,” he added.

A police report, dated Wednesday, December 18, 2024, and provided to PUNCH Metro on Monday, further supported the family’s account.

When contacted on Monday for an update on the search, Chief Superintendent Nathaniel, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Oke-Odo, where the matter was reported, informed PUNCH Metro that he would provide an update after reviewing his findings.

“I will confirm. When we have such complaints, we normally relay them to our control room, who will then relay them to other divisions to find out whether the person was being detained or involved in an accident,” CSP Nathaniel said.

Meanwhile, Abiodun told PUNCH Metro that the entire Babatanisewu family remained deeply worried about Abiola’s safety and well-being, urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward. “If you have any useful details, please contact 07088672562 or 08028467182,” he appealed.
