Ondo govt refutes appointment of Keke Maruwa Coordinator
The Ondo State Government has addressed recent claims regarding the purported appointment of a State Coordinator for Keke Maruwa in Ondo State.
The statement follows reports that Comrade Ademola Odudu, State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), allegedly appointed Timileyin John Ogaga, popularly known as Gaga, to the role.
Speaking on the matter, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Strategy, Adewumi Folajimi Gbenga, clarified that the Committee for Transportation (COMTRA) remains the umbrella body overseeing the activities of Okada and Keke Maruwa operators in the state.
Since 2017, the Ondo State Government has maintained sole coordination of these activities through the Office of Special Duties.
“The government dissociates itself from the circulating news, as there has been no formal handing over of COMTRA’s operations back to the union,” Gbenga stated. He further emphasized that COMTRA’s activities, including those involving Keke Maruwa operators, remain under the supervision of the state government.
Gbenga also issued a warning to the public, particularly Keke Maruwa operators across the state, not to engage in any transactions with Timileyin John Ogaga. “We urge Mr. Ogaga to desist from misleading the public and remind the general public to avoid dealings with him,” he added.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring order and proper supervision of the transportation sector in Ondo State, assuring stakeholders of continued oversight through established structures.
