The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has called on states in the South-East, particularly Anambra, to align more closely with the ruling party at the national level to ensure greater political and economic progress.
Speaking at the inauguration of the APC state secretariat in Awka, Ganduje stated that the party is committed to helping Anambra connect to the centre in the upcoming November elections
Ganduje described the Igbo people as the most nationalistic tribe in Nigeria, stressing that their full potential could only be realized through active participation in the APC.
He said: “We must be focused, we must have plans, we must have vision, and I can see that the party in Anambra is fully aware of that.”
He also urged the South-East to join the national political grid, saying, “You are under rural electrification; you are under generator, and this is unacceptable. You need to connect to the national grid.”
Shedding light on the region’s historical significance, Ganduje stated, “We want to take you back to the good old days of Ojukwu when he was pardoned to return to Nigeria in the interest of one Nigeria, and the days of Nnamdi Azikiwe.”
He reaffirmed his resolve to connect Anambra to the national political structure, starting with the state’s upcoming gubernatorial elections.
At the event, two of the APC’s governorship aspirants, Sir Paul Chukwuma and Professor Obiora Okonkwo, who had contributed to the establishment of the new office, expressed their determination to ensure APC’s success in the state.
Chukwuma declared, “Today marks the beginning of victory for APC in Anambra.”
On his part, Okonkwo promised, “If you give me the ticket, I will give you the C of O of the Anambra government house.”
