An 80-year-old prince from Bolorunduro in Ondo East Local Government Area, Prince Adefusi Adebisi, has been arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court on charges of property destruction and breach of public peace.

The police accused Adebisi and others still at large of unlawfully trespassing on land belonging to Reverend David Akinadewo-Adekahunsi and causing damage to economic trees worth ₦247 million.

The alleged incident occurred on November 25, 2024, in Omilosu, near Bolorunduro.

Police Prosecutor H. A. Olagbaju told the court that the defendant’s actions could provoke public disorder. The charges against Adebisi include conspiracy to commit forcible entry, malicious damage, and trespassing.

According to the charge sheet, the accused and his accomplices allegedly conspired to commit a felony, willfully destroyed plantain, cocoa, kolanut, and palm trees, and unlawfully entered land under the peaceful possession of Reverend Akinadewo-Adekahunsi.

These offences violate Sections 516, 451, and 81 of the Ondo State Criminal Code (2006).

Prince Adebisi pleaded not guilty to all charges. His defense counsel, Mr. E. O. Edo, sought bail, arguing that his client is presumed innocent until proven guilty and is willing to attend all court proceedings.

Senior Magistrate Mrs. Mike Akinbola granted bail at ₦10 million with two sureties in the same amount.

The sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, provide proof of two years’ tax clearance, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and submit their National Identification Numbers (NIN).

The case was adjourned to March 5, 2025, with the prosecution directed to file all necessary evidence before the next hearing.
