Oladunni to Political Actors: Stop distracting Aiyedatiwa, Finance Commissioner

Amid rising political tensions in Ondo State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Moyosola Niran-Oladunni, has urged political actors to refrain from causing distractions for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and instead allow him to focus on governance.

Expressing concern over growing distrust within the governor’s team, Niran-Oladunni described the agitation against the state’s Commissioner for Finance as unnecessary and a diversion from the administration’s development agenda.

He emphasized that the governor holds the constitutional authority to appoint or remove officials as he deems fit, warning that external pressure to influence such decisions could derail progress.

“The calls for the removal of the Finance Commissioner are baseless and only highlight the lack of unity among team members who should be supporting the governor in delivering on his electoral promises,” he stated.

He further condemned what he termed “political immaturity” displayed by certain dismissed aides of the governor, accusing them of orchestrating media attacks against the Finance Commissioner. He stressed that such undue interference in governance is detrimental to the state’s progress.

Niran-Oladunni also advised those fueling political instability to seek legitimate livelihoods outside politics, emphasizing that politics should be seen as a platform for service rather than a lifelong profession.

“Our people need to learn tolerance. The real issue in Ondo State politics is redundancy. Many individuals are idle, and as the saying goes, an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

“Instead of engaging in divisive politics, people should focus on productive activities. Politics should be a part-time engagement, not a full-time career,” he advised.

He, therefore, called on all political stakeholders and citizens to rally behind the governor, ensuring his administration can successfully implement policies that will benefit the people rather than be hindered by unnecessary distractions.
