Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has distanced himself from the petition that led to the prosecution of Barrister Wale Omolegbon over his Facebook criticisms. The governor clarified that he neither initiated nor authorized any legal action against Omolegbon for alleged cyberbullying.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles, emphasizing that he welcomes dissenting views and does not hold grudges against critics.

“The decision to serve the people comes with its challenges, including public scrutiny. Since assuming office, Governor Aiyedatiwa has endured various criticisms without retaliating. He has never directed anyone to petition or prosecute any individual for expressing their views,” the statement read.

To further demonstrate his stance, the governor has instructed the Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to take over the case and facilitate the withdrawal of charges against Omolegbon.

Governor Aiyedatiwa reiterated his belief in free speech and assured citizens of his administration’s commitment to upholding democratic values.
