The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man, Saheed Jinadu, by gunmen at Osuke Village in Ota.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, revealing that a report was filed on February 27 at about 2:20 p.m. by Olusoji Jinadu, a resident of Iju Mosque Compound, Osuke, Ota.

According to the report, armed hoodlums led by a suspect identified as Elijah arrived at the Osuke Muslim prayer ground around 8:00 a.m. on a motorcycle and began shooting indiscriminately.

The attack caused panic among residents and endangered lives.

Saheed Jinadu was struck by a bullet and rushed to the State General Hospital in Ota, where doctors pronounced him dead.

His body has been preserved for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation, while authorities are working to track down the attackers.

Following the incident, police operatives visited the crime scene and recovered three expended cartridges and two spent AK-47 rounds.

Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo strongly condemned the attack and assured the public that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The command extended condolences to the victim’s family and urged residents to remain calm while assisting law enforcement with any useful information.
