Ibadan reveals to court how wife washed private part, used water to cook food

A Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, has issued a fresh hearing notice to a woman, Safiyah, following allegations made against her by her husband, Hamzat (surname withheld).

Hamzat accused his wife of being troublesome, disobedient, and constantly engaging in conflicts with him.

He further alleged that she practiced witchcraft, with the support of her mother, to manipulate and control him.

According to him, Safiyah would wash her private parts and use the water to prepare his meals.

He also claimed that she was a habitual thief who frequently stole his money and valuables, severely affecting his business.

Hamzat told the court that their marriage, which was contracted through customary rites with a bride price of N15,000, had produced three children.

However, he insisted that Safiyah’s behavior had made his home unbearable.

He described her as disrespectful and confrontational, often engaging in public arguments with him.

Additionally, he accused his mother-in-law of enabling her alleged misconduct and attempting to control him through mystical means.

As a result, Hamzat pleaded with the court to dissolve their marriage and grant him custody of their children.

He also requested an order restraining Safiyah from harassing, threatening, or interfering in his personal affairs.

Despite being summoned, Safiyah failed to appear in court.

The court president, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, adjourned the case to April 8 for further hearing.
