The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of Operation Hadin Kai, carried out a strategic nighttime airstrike on a known terrorist command center located in the Mandara Mountains, specifically in the Chikide and Degbewa areas of Borno State.
In a statement released on Tuesday, NAF confirmed that the operation targeted insurgents’ hideouts deep within the rugged terrain, dealing a major blow to their activities.
According to intelligence reports, the location was a key gathering point for insurgents, including a notorious terrorist leader, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters, who were reportedly planning a high-level meeting.
Surveillance data further revealed heavily fortified structures equipped with solar-powered installations at the site.
Acting on this intelligence, NAF launched a well-coordinated night assault, catching the insurgents off guard.
The precision strikes destroyed the terrorists’ logistics hub and command center, resulting in massive fires that wiped out multiple structures and neutralized several fighters.
NAF noted that the offensive significantly weakened the terrorists’ operational capacity, paving the way for ground troops to advance and take control of the area.
“This successful operation highlights the NAF’s growing capability to conduct both day and night airstrikes, ensuring that insurgents can no longer find refuge under the cover of darkness,” the statement read.
NAF reaffirmed its commitment to continuous air operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace to the region.
