Zamfara CSO rejects APC’s allegations on minimum wage implementation

The Zamfara State Rescue Movement (ZSRM), a civil society organization, has dismissed claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the introduction of the N70,000 minimum wage in the state is a political strategy to boost Governor Dauda Lawal’s popularity.

In a statement issued on Sunday, ZSRM Coordinator Lawal Idris criticized the APC’s remarks, describing them as a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the facts.

He emphasized that the governor is focused on the state’s development and has played a key role in revitalizing its economy and restoring its dignity.

“Labeling the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage as deceitful is a clear misrepresentation of Governor Lawal’s efforts. He took over leadership when the state was facing serious challenges and has worked tirelessly to turn things around,” the statement read.

The group pointed out that Governor Lawal is the first to enforce the new minimum wage in Zamfara, an initiative that the previous administration failed to implement.

Reaffirming its confidence in the current leadership, ZSRM declared that “there is no vacancy in the government house in 2027,” signaling strong support for Governor Lawal’s administration.
