Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has reaffirmed her intention to visit her constituency for the upcoming Sallah celebrations, dismissing rumors that her trip was canceled due to restrictions imposed by the Kogi State Government.

In a statement released on Tuesday, her office confirmed that the visit would proceed as planned and urged supporters to ignore any false claims about its cancellation.

“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s visit to Kogi Central for the Sallah celebrations will go ahead as scheduled,” the statement read.

“There has been no official communication from our office indicating any changes to the plans.”

The statement further highlighted that as an elected representative, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan felt a strong obligation to connect with her constituents and encouraged them to participate in the festivities.

“As the senator for Kogi Central, she remains committed to promoting unity and collaboration within the community,” the statement added. “All arrangements for a successful and enjoyable event are in place, and we invite everyone to join in the celebrations.”

This announcement comes amidst heightened security concerns in Kogi State, where authorities have imposed a ban on public gatherings, including activities such as fishing, due to recent violent incidents.

Kogi’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, had warned that intelligence reports suggested certain groups were planning to stage violent protests disguised as political or religious events.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was recently suspended from the Senate for six months following a disagreement over seating arrangements, has also raised allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
