A 24-year-old man, Taofeek Akanbi, has been arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing clothing materials and other tailoring equipment.

Akanbi is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy and theft but pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, the alleged offence took place in October 2024 at the Ojo-Igbede area of Lagos.

Uche stated that Akanbi, along with accomplices who are still at large, stole clothing worth N150,000 from a shop owned by Paul Oladimeji.

Additionally, he allegedly took a mannequin stand valued at N50,000, roofing materials worth N30,000, sewing machine parts valued at N80,000, generator parts worth N60,000, sewing materials worth N40,000, and N30,000 in fuel money.

The total value of the stolen items was estimated at N440,000.

Akanbi was also accused of stealing a sewing machine head belonging to Alaba Okeowo, though its value has yet to be determined.

The charges were brought under Sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni granted the defendant bail at N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until May 7 for hearing.
