Two Nollywood actors have died under mysterious circumstances after eating a meal at a house party in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, on Friday.

According to sources, the actors, whose identities have not been disclosed, had attended the gathering following a film shoot.

At the party, they reportedly consumed rice, wine, and a drink known as Calypso, which were said to have been provided by the movie’s director.

One source said the director retired early to bed but woke up during the night to switch the power supply from a generator to the public grid.

At that point, he discovered two guests had died, while two others were found in critical condition.

A Facebook user, Kaito Karisia, shared details of the incident online and noted that the two surviving victims, both men, are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Owerri.

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the incident.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said the command is treating the case as a suspected unnatural death and has launched an investigation.

He added that the movie director and three women who were also at the party have been arrested.

Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma has ordered autopsies on the deceased to determine the exact cause of death.

The police assured the public that the investigation will be thorough and that findings will guide the next steps.
