President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, which began shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, follows reports of increasing violence in Plateau, Benue, and other parts of the country.

Security vehicles were seen arriving at the President’s residence earlier in the day.

Tinubu returned to the capital Monday night after an 18-day working visit to Paris and London.

His return comes amid growing concerns over deadly attacks in parts of the country, particularly in Benue, where at least 56 people were killed in recent assaults blamed on armed herders.

Thousands have been displaced, and many homes destroyed, despite ongoing military deployments.

According to multiple sources, the President is alarmed by the deteriorating security situation and is meeting with top security officials, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, to evaluate current strategies and consider further measures.

A senior government official earlier confirmed the planned meeting, noting that Tinubu had remained engaged with security briefings while abroad and is expected to reassess operations in high-risk areas such as Plateau, Benue, and Borno states.
