The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug traffickers, Muntari Shu’aibu and Imrana Rabi’u, for allegedly possessing large quantities of the illicit drug Tramadol.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori, in a statement on Thursday, revealed that the suspects were caught with six bales of the drug, valued at over $92,000—approximately N150 million.
Bakori said the suspects were apprehended during a well-coordinated, intelligence-driven sting operation, following a tip-off.
He noted that the arrest is part of broader efforts to address the root causes of violent crimes in the state, many of which are linked to drug abuse and trafficking.
Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to the Kano Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
“This action aligns with the Inspector-General of Police’s strategy for proactive policing and reinforces inter-agency collaboration,” Bakori stated.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to partnering with other security agencies in the ongoing fight against crime and drug abuse across the state and the country.
