A 37-year-old man, Sani Tasun, was arraigned on Friday before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stabbing another man, Sani Jubril.

Tasun, whose address was not disclosed, is facing two counts of conspiracy and assault. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, the incident occurred on April 18 around 7:00 p.m. in the Kurata Ori-Okuta area of Ota.

He alleged that Tasun and unidentified accomplices conspired to attack Jubril, stabbing him with a knife and inflicting permanent injuries.

The offences, Adaraloye said, violate Section 4(1) of the Ogun State Violence (Prohibition) Law and Section 249 of the state’s Criminal Code Law of 2006.

Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with one surety in the same amount.

The surety must live within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed, and present evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

The case was adjourned until May 5 for hearing.
