Police operatives in Kano State have arrested 33 suspected thugs during a series of raids across the metropolis.

The spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, SP Haruna Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests, explaining that the suspects, known locally as “Yan Daba,” were apprehended with dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen property recovered as evidence.

According to Abdullahi, the raids were part of a clearance operation conducted between April 23 and April 28, 2025.

The operation, led by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe of the Anti-Daba Team, was carried out under the directives and supervision of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

He said, “The operations, based on actionable intelligence, led to the arrest of 33 suspected thugs for offences including armed robbery, possession of dangerous weapons, and dealing in illicit drugs.”

Abdullahi reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

He added that the Command would continue to conduct round-the-clock patrols, intelligence-driven raids, and community policing initiatives to ensure the safety of residents.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bakori, expressed appreciation to the public for their ongoing support and encouraged citizens to continue providing valuable information that would assist in fighting crime.

“The Kano State Police Command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and looks forward to continued collaboration with the community,” Abdullahi said.
