Two men, Semiu Rafiu, 40, and Adebayo Mutiu, 45, were on Wednesday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing five air conditioners valued at N5 million.
The defendants, whose addresses were not disclosed, were charged with conspiracy and theft. They pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Tunji Olaniyi, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on April 22 at the National Blood Service Agency office in Yemetu, Ibadan.
He alleged that the two men, along with others still at large, stole the air conditioners belonging to the agency, which was represented in court by Dr Odunayo Akano.
Olaniyi said the offences violated Sections 383 and 516 and are punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Maaruf Mudashiru granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N500,000 each, with one surety each, who must be a blood relative.
The case was adjourned until June 23 for hearing.
