Nigerian music star Davido has boldly claimed his dominance in the Afrobeats scene, stating that no other artist can rival his talent in the genre.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Apple Music’s Ebro Show, the award-winning singer acknowledged the expertise of American musicians such as Gunna, Young Thug, and Chris Brown in their respective genres—trap and R&B—but maintained that Afrobeats remains his domain.
“One thing American artists enjoy when working with me is that we either strike a balance or dive fully into Afrobeats,” Davido explained.
“I know I can’t beat Gunna or Young Thug at trap, or Chris Brown in R&B, but when it comes to Afrobeats, nobody does it like I do.”
He also revealed a strong creative partnership with Chris Brown, sharing that they have recorded over 20 songs together—enough to release at least two collaborative albums.
