Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to Nigeria following a two-week vacation in Germany.
He arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, around 7 PM on Friday, where he was welcomed by some of his aides.
A video circulating online shows the governor being ushered into a waiting SUV that quickly departed the airport.
Although Fubara was officially on vacation in Germany, sources say he also held a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London.
Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly were earlier suspended by President Tinubu after a state of emergency was declared in Rivers State.
The President cited ongoing attacks on oil infrastructure amid tensions between the governor and 27 lawmakers, with references made to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
