Buhari, CPC bloc remain committed to APC – Nasarawa Governor

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has cautioned opposition parties against attempting to lure former President Muhammadu Buhari into political coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections, affirming that Buhari and the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) bloc remain solidly behind the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Friday in Lafia during a grand reception for the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Labaran Magaji, Governor Sule addressed recent speculations about a possible alliance between the defunct CPC and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, reportedly aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the next elections.

The governor stressed that Buhari, a founding figure of the APC and the face of the former CPC, would not support any move to undermine the party he helped build.

“There is no such thing as taking CPC away,” Sule said.

“Only one person has the authority to speak for the CPC, and that is our father, Muhammadu Buhari.

He embodies the CPC. Wherever he goes, his 12 million loyal voters follow, and he has made it clear—he’s not going anywhere.

We visited him in Kaduna to reaffirm our unity and commitment to the APC.”

He praised President Tinubu’s leadership and noted that Buhari and other CPC members recognize the progress made under his administration since assuming office in 2023.

At the event, Governor Sule also urged Magaji, the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, to remain upright and committed in his new role.

He thanked the 13 local government chairmen and Magaji’s supporters for organizing the event, which he said promotes peace and unity in the state.

Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, who chaired the occasion, lauded Magaji’s legacy as a reform-driven legal expert.

He highlighted Magaji’s efforts in streamlining criminal case timelines, advocating for alternative sentencing to reduce prison congestion, and restoring the authority of Area Court Judges to handle criminal matters—moves that brought justice closer to underserved rural populations.

“Labaran has set a benchmark for public service in Nasarawa.

His appointment reflects his exceptional credentials and dedication to good governance,” Malami said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, Safiyanu Andaha, described Magaji as a seasoned politician and administrator with extensive experience at both state and national levels.

In his vote of thanks, Magaji expressed gratitude to all attendees for their support and pledged to serve with integrity and diligence in his new position.
