Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo has made an emotional plea on social media, calling on the public and security authorities to help locate her missing son, Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student at Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
In a live Facebook video, Omotayo said she dropped off her son at the university on Sunday evening, April 27, 2025, but has not heard from him since.
“Please help me ask Babcock University to produce my son.
I personally dropped him off on Sunday, and for the past three days, I’ve been unable to sleep.
I went to the school, and they told me students sometimes hide on campus, but I haven’t seen or heard from him,” she said tearfully.
In a separate post, Omotayo expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the university, questioning why two individuals, identified as Lampard and Tobi, who were reportedly the last to see her son, had not been properly questioned.
“It’s been over 72 hours since I last spoke to my son.
I dropped him off at school as usual, and now no one can tell me where he is. My son is not a piece of furniture,” she wrote.
Responding to the matter, Emmanuel Ojo, Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun on New Media, said he had spoken to the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who in turn contacted the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo.
“The Vice-Chancellor said this was the first time he was hearing of the issue.
He now has the student’s name, photo, and other relevant details and has promised to look into it.
Security agencies are also involved, and we’re hopeful of a positive outcome,” Ojo said in a Facebook post.
Confirming the incident, the university’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Dr Joshua Suleiman, said the institution’s security department had launched an investigation.
“The school is aware of the situation. Our security team is currently handling the matter,” Suleiman stated.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, also confirmed receiving a report from the mother.
“The case was just reported to us, and we’ve begun investigations. We are working to contact the university,” he said.
