Police arrest suspected kidnappers who transferred N70m from victim’s account
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a group of suspected kidnappers who allegedly abducted a man in Abraka, Ethiope-East Local Government Area, and transferred N70 million from his bank account.
The suspects also stole the victim’s GLC Mercedes-Benz, which was later traced to a hotel in Benin City, Edo State. Officers from SP Fabian’s team, working in coordination with the Oba Market Police Division in Benin, tracked and recovered the vehicle at the hotel, where the suspects were apprehended.
The stolen funds were reportedly still in the suspects’ account at the time of the arrest.
Human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe, who confirmed the incident, said the victim was kidnapped in the early hours of May 1, 2025.
“He was robbed of his car and had about N70 million transferred from his bank account,” Joe stated.
Police investigations are ongoing.
