The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a social media influencer, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, for allegedly defacing and disrespecting the Nigerian currency in a video posted online.
In a statement released on Monday via its official X handle, the Commission said Sa’ad was taken into custody by its Kaduna Zonal Directorate after he uploaded a video of himself throwing naira notes on the ground and stepping on them.
In the footage, he also challenged the EFCC in Hausa, daring them to arrest him.
The EFCC reported that Sa’ad was tracked and arrested in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State and has since been taken in for questioning.
The Commission added that he will be prosecuted once investigations are complete.
