Kemi Badenoch, leader of the UK Conservative Party, has urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government to adopt the Conservative Party’s proposed deportation bill as a solution to the country’s growing immigration challenges.
In a video posted on her official X account on Saturday, Badenoch warned of the consequences of inaction, suggesting that without urgent measures, up to two million immigrants could acquire British citizenship by next year.
“Next year, two million immigrants could automatically claim British citizenship.
That’s nearly twice the population of Birmingham,” she said.
“We’ve introduced a deportation bill because we are committed to reducing immigration.”
The proposed legislation, published on Tuesday, aims to overhaul the UK’s immigration system.
It includes provisions for deporting foreign criminals, conducting mandatory age checks, tightening visa rules, limiting asylum support, and preventing permanent residency for those relying on welfare benefits.
Badenoch emphasized the need for swift action, stating, “Until this becomes law, the issue won’t be resolved. Labour should adopt this now.
It’s time to take a tough stance, and that’s exactly what our deportation bill offers. Our country is a home, not a hotel.”
