Retired naval officer and former Military Administrator of Bayelsa State, Navy Captain Omoniyi Caleb Olubolade, has passed away at the age of 70.
Olubolade, who celebrated his 70th birthday on November 30, 2024, died on Sunday, May 11, in Apapa, Lagos.
His death was confirmed in a statement issued by his children, Oluwayemisi Akinadewo and Dayo Olubolade.
The statement revealed that the former minister collapsed while playing lawn tennis.
“He drove himself to the facility to play lawn tennis in the evening and slumped while playing. Efforts were made by medical officers around to revive him, to no avail,” the statement read.
He was rushed to Obisesan Naval Medical Hospital in Apapa, where he was later pronounced dead.
Olubolade also served the nation in various ministerial roles, including Minister of Special Duties, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, and Minister of Police Affairs.
