Fubara visited me for peace talks with two APC Governors — Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, recently visited him at his residence in Port Harcourt, accompanied by two governors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a live media chat on Monday, Wike disclosed that the visit was centered on peace efforts amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State. “Yes, he came.

He came with two governors and one other person. Unfortunately, the two governors are APC governors, so I will not pursue them.

And he said he wants peace — fine, I want peace,” the minister stated.

Wike described the governor’s current political challenges as a “self-inflicted injury,” recalling a previous intervention involving several political leaders, including Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and former Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).

“When this started, I called him. We were scouting.

We sat him down and said, ‘This is not good for you.’ God has given you this opportunity, be humble. Don’t let people push you,” Wike recounted.

The FCT Minister also addressed the issue of open grazing in Abuja, assuring that the administration is taking deliberate steps to resolve it.

He cited challenges with encroachment on designated grazing reserves, saying, “So many people have encroached… but it’s a problem that will be sorted out. We just have to tread cautiously.”
