Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have foiled a suicide attack by the elements of Boko Haram in Mammanti village at the outskirt of Maiguguri on June 6, 2020. It was reported that two suicide bombers that were advancing towards a group of civilians soft targets blew themselves up while the third bomber was shot dead by a soldier before her explosive became detonated. One vigilante was however killed in the explosion while another one was injured.
Similarly, a male suicide bomber has also blown himself up at Manari village while in the midst of vigilantes thereby killing three of them with another two injured. It was reported that the vigilantes had approached the bomber because of his suspicious movements in the village.
It appears that the ongoing bombardment and decimation of fighters and equipment of Boko Haram terror group by the Army troops of Operation Lafiya Dole may have informed their latest change of tactics thereby using suicide bombers on soft civilian targets.
