Three men—Abiodun Adekanbi, Mubarak Mohammed, and Abubakar Sanusi—were arraigned on Wednesday before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a tricycle engine and copper wire.

The defendants, aged between 22 and 23, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, attempted theft, and stealing.

Their residential addresses were not disclosed. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, the incident occurred in March around 3:00 a.m. at Anchor Petroleum Ltd., located at No. 106 Awolowo Road, Itamaga, Ikorodu.

He alleged that the trio stole a TVC tricycle engine valued at N200,000, belonging to one Tochukwu Omaba, as well as copper wire worth N200,000, the property of Anchor Petroleum.

Isaac further stated that on May 7, the defendants returned to the same premises and allegedly attempted another theft.

The offences, he said, violate Sections 411, 287, and 406 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

Chief Magistrate B.A. Sonuga granted each defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned until June 16 for further mention.
