A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Jabi, Abuja, on Tuesday ordered the remand of Prof. Sani Ibrahim in Correctional Service custody over charges of conspiracy, forgery, and criminal trespass. Prof. Ibrahim, a biochemistry professor at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, alongside Mubarak Musa Saliu and others at large, faces prosecution by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The charges relate to alleged forgery and land racketeering involving a plot in Guzape, Abuja, owned by NEXTDORA NIG. LTD.
The prosecution accuses them of conspiring in December 2024 to forge documents by altering the company registration number of NEXTDORA LTD from RC. 1190723 to RC. 564478 NETCAP INTERSWITCH.
They are also charged with possessing forged documents and unlawfully entering the land in question.
The case, filed on April 18, 2025, was called for arraignment after repeated absences by the defendants, prompting the police to arrest Prof. Ibrahim at ABU Zaria.
Prof. Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to the charges. His legal team filed a Preliminary Objection challenging the court’s jurisdiction and alleging irregularities in the prosecution’s documentation, arguing that the charges were invalid.
However, Justice Ademuyiwa Oyeyipo ruled in favor of the prosecution and remanded Prof. Ibrahim in custody until June 19, 2025, pending a proper bail hearing.
