Gospel singer and minister, Bolaji Olarewaju, widely known as Big B, was laid to rest on Tuesday, May 28, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The burial took place at the All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, attended by his wife, children, relatives, and a host of friends and well-wishers.

In the days leading up to the burial, a series of memorial events were held in his honor, including nights of praise and testimonies in Lagos and Ibadan on May 26 and 27.

These gatherings brought together fellow gospel artists and admirers to celebrate his life and ministry.

Prominent gospel musicians such as Dunsin Oyekan, Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Beejay Sax, Gbenga Adenuga, Yetunde Are, Bois Olorun, and Akintayo were in attendance. Many of them paid heartfelt tributes, describing Big Bolaji as a connector and a bridge-builder within the gospel community.

Speaking at the burial service, Bishop T.V. Adelakun reflected on the late minister’s impactful life.

He emphasized that the true measure of life lies not in its length but in the value one brings to others.

“Life is too short,” Adelakun said. “Some live a hundred years without leaving a mark. Life is not about duration, but donation.

We must strive to leave the world better than we met it.”

Other clergy present included Pastor Austin Ologbese, Bishop Femi Emmanuel, and Pastors Femi Oduwole and Sola Oludoyi.

During the tribute session, Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi recalled Big B’s deep commitment to the Christian faith and his generous spirit. “Bolaji was like family,” she said. “His passion for the Gospel and the body of Christ was unmatched.

Though his passing is painful, we are thankful for the life he lived.”

Gospel icon Tope Alabi also shared words of reflection, urging others to live lives that honor God. “Big B loved God deeply,” she said. “He lived to serve and touch lives.

The question we must ask ourselves is: How do we want to be remembered? Let love lead, and let us all work to advance the kingdom of Christ.”

Bolaji Olarewaju was an ordained pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and a celebrated figure in Nigerian gospel music.

He passed away at the age of 50, leaving behind his wife and two children.
