NAF intensifies 24-hour air operations in fight against insurgency

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has stepped up its round-the-clock aerial operations targeting terrorist camps and criminal hideouts across the country, as part of a renewed campaign to combat insecurity.

These intensified operations cover key regions including the North-East, North-West, North Central, South-East, and South-South zones.

The offensive follows directives from the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, aimed at strengthening security efforts nationwide.

In a statement on Wednesday, NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame confirmed that Air Component Commanders have been ordered to sustain continuous air dominance and apply relentless pressure on armed groups threatening national peace.

“Reaffirming its commitment to Nigeria’s security, the NAF has increased 24-hour air patrols across multiple conflict zones, delivering decisive blows to terrorists, insurgents, and criminal networks,” Ejodame said.

“This renewed intensity comes alongside improved coordination between air and ground forces, notably within Operation Hadin Kai and other joint task force initiatives.”

Air Marshal Abubakar was quoted saying, “Terrorists will find no safe haven, day or night. Our surveillance is constant, and our determination unwavering.

Wherever they hide, we will locate and strike with precision.”

Highlighting recent successes, Ejodame pointed to the thwarted terrorist attack in New Marte, Borno State, on May 24, 2025. A group of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants attempted to attack using motorcycles and a vehicle-borne explosive device but were intercepted and neutralized by NAF aircraft guided by real-time intelligence.

“Our enhanced night vision capabilities now eliminate the cover of darkness for these enemies,” he said. “Our precision strikes continue regardless of time, ensuring constant pressure on insurgents.”

Subsequent follow-up strikes reportedly killed over 50 insurgents attempting to regroup, further weakening their operational strength.

Air Marshal Abubakar assured Nigerians of the Air Force’s unwavering dedication to their protection.

“To every Nigerian, be assured: Your Air Force remains vigilant. From Kalabalge to Rann, Damboa to New Marte, we control the skies.

As long as we do, terror will find no rest, day or night,” he affirmed.
