The Olu of Epe Kingdom, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale, has passed away at the age of 86.
The revered monarch died in the early hours of Saturday, May 31, 2025. He will be laid to rest later today in accordance with Islamic rites.
Confirming the news to PUNCH Online, High Chief Odedeogboro Balogun of Epe Kingdom, Musiliu Adeniyi, said, “The news is true. It was this morning. He will be buried at 4 o’clock today.”
Oba Adewale, the 19th traditional ruler of Epe, had a distinguished career in public service.
Before ascending the throne, he held the title of Otun-Balogun, later becoming Balogun before his coronation as king.
He also served as a Director of Administration in the Ministry of Education and was formerly the Executive Secretary at the Ministry of Lands.
