The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan, representing Ilaje Constituency I, has officially resigned from his position.
During a plenary session held today and presided over by Speaker Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, the House Majority Leader, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi of Owo Constituency I, also stepped down.
He has been replaced by Hon. Olatunji Oshati, the lawmaker representing Ose Constituency.
Akinruntan, who hails from the same local government area as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, cited political power-sharing arrangements in the state as the reason for his resignation.
Following his exit, Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, representing Okitipupa Constituency II, was appointed as the new Deputy Speaker.
