The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the death of 45-year-old Ahmed Aliyu, who was killed in an attack by unidentified assailants in Hammadu Kafi, located in Akko Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday but was reported later that night at approximately 11:00 p.m. by a relative of the deceased, Bashir Umar.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was attacked with a knife and sustained fatal injuries to the left side of his chest and back,” Abdullahi stated.
“He was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where he was sadly confirmed dead by a medical doctor.”
Describing the incident as “senseless and unwarranted,” the police have launched an intelligence-led investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
“We strongly condemn this heinous act,” Abdullahi added.
“Efforts are underway to trace and arrest those responsible so they may face justice.”
The Command also called on the public to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any useful information.
“We urge residents to support the investigation by sharing credible information that could help uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragedy,” the statement said.
Reaffirming its dedication to public safety, the Command assured residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property across Gombe State.
