The Nigeria Police Force has announced a series of successful operations leading to the rescue of a kidnapped child, the arrest of a staged-kidnap gang, and the recovery of counterfeit currency from suspected fraudsters.

According to a statement posted on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, these developments are part of ongoing efforts to enhance internal security and dismantle criminal networks through intelligence-driven policing.

In Katsina State, police operatives uncovered a staged kidnapping involving two sisters.

The case began on February 20, 2025, when Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters reported the abduction of his 14-year-old daughter and her 4-year-old sister.

Four months later, the 14-year-old resurfaced and confessed to orchestrating her own disappearance with the help of three accomplices, aged 25, 19, and 16.

All suspects have been arrested, and the younger child was rescued unharmed.

In Nasarawa State, officers intercepted an unregistered motorcycle along the Giza–Kadarko Road in Keana Local Government Area following a tip-off about suspected arms trafficking.

The rider fled into nearby bushes upon sighting the police.

A search of the motorcycle revealed an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition. Efforts to track and arrest the suspect are ongoing.

In another operation on June 13, 2025, a joint security team raided Kankare and Zurkuda villages in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, arresting seven suspected fraudsters involved in financial crimes.

Items recovered from the suspects include:

$46,100 in counterfeit U.S. currency

Four POS machines

13 Android smartphones

29 basic phones

Six power banks

Two vehicle number plates

Assorted documents linked to electronic fraud

All suspects remain in custody and are under investigation.

The statement emphasized that these coordinated operations reflect the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to tackling criminal activities through intelligence gathering, proactive policing, and community collaboration.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, called on Nigerians to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of law enforcement efforts to ensure safer communities.
