The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a consignment of cocaine cleverly hidden inside clothes hangers and sewn into garments packed in a traveller’s luggage.
The discovery was announced on Sunday in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi.
According to the statement, the cocaine was found during a routine search conducted by NDLEA operatives at an undisclosed airport.
The agency noted that drug traffickers are increasingly adopting sophisticated methods to evade detection.
Babafemi wrote, “Who would have thought cocaine could be concealed inside clothes hangers or stitched into dresses in a suitcase? Yet that’s the level of desperation drug cartels have reached, as shown in the NDLEA’s latest seizure.”
