Hundreds of youths across Ondo state, on Wednesday, gathered in Akure to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN).

The event, which had in attendance major stakeholders from the public and private sectors, was an avenue to stir conversations around youth inclusion in leadership and national development.

Addressing the gathering, Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said his government will continue to create opportunities for youths to thrive and take up leadership roles in building a prosperous Nigeria.

Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor urged the youths to create value and be good ambassadors of the state.

“Our government is focused on providing an enabling environment, where our youths can realize their God-given potentials and contribute meaningfully to the growth of our nation.

“We have rolled out several youth-friendly programs, designed to engage and empower them across various sectors” the governor said.

The governor commended the leadership of OSYN for promoting peace and harmony among youths in the state.

In his remarks, minister of youth development, Ayodele Olawande, charged young Nigerians to rise up and take ownership of the country’s future, noting that building a united and progressive Nigeria is a collective responsibility.

According to him, “If we want a better Nigeria, we must be ready to take the bull by the horn and lead with purpose, passion, and unity.”

Speaking on the theme, “Building a Desirable Nigeria: Youths in Leadership for National Renaissance,” guest speaker, Adedayo Afe, emphasized innovation and value-based leadership, as he encouraged the youths to adopt creative and bold approaches in building the Nigeria of everyone’s dreams.

On his part, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, who was represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on digital media (Office of the Deputy Governor), Rahman Yusuf, asked the youth to embrace discipline and strategic planning as they step into leadership roles.

Remarking, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Hon. Tomide Akinribido, highlighted the growing role of digital technology and innovation in governance and advised young people to harness tech tools to drive positive change.

Earlier in his address, Coordinator of the Ondo State Youth Network, Adegboyega Afe, said the anniversary lecture was a call to action and a reminder that the nation’s transformation lies in the hands of its visionary youths.

“This event is not just a celebration, it’s a movement. A reminder that if we must build a desirable Nigeria, the youth must lead the charge with courage, ideas, and integrity.” Afe submitted.
