The Senate has confirmed Oludare Sunday and Kabir Kataka as the new Managing Director and Executive Director of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
The confirmation came during Thursday’s plenary following the presentation of a report by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.
The report was delivered by the committee chairman, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (APC, Lagos East), who urged the Senate to endorse the nominations.
According to Abiru, the committee thoroughly reviewed the nominees’ credentials and found them suitable for the roles.
President Bola Tinubu had nominated the duo in May and forwarded their names to the Senate for screening in accordance with statutory procedures.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s request before referring it to the relevant committee.
With the Senate’s approval, both Oludare and Kataka are set to officially take up their roles at the NDIC, a key institution tasked with safeguarding the stability of Nigeria’s banking sector.
Their appointments are expected to bolster confidence and reinforce sound practices within the country’s financial system.
