The Nigerian government has approved the recruitment of 30,000 additional personnel into the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen security and address existing manpower shortages.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, representing Jigawa North East, confirmed the development to journalists in his office.
According to Senator Madori, the Police Service Commission has received official approval to carry out the recruitment exercise this year, as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to enhance national security.
He added that the recruitment drive will become an annual initiative aimed at closing the personnel gap within the Force.
“The President has authorized the recruitment of 30,000 officers this year, and similar numbers will be recruited in subsequent years,” he stated.
Senator Madori advised Nigerians to stay alert and avoid falling victim to fraudsters during the recruitment process.
He assured that official announcements would be made through national newspapers and other credible platforms.
