The Ekiti State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of one Deji Ojo, who was fatally stabbed during a clash in the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.

Ojo was reportedly injured during a fight between rival groups and later died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Commissioner of Police Joseph Eribo has ordered a thorough probe into the incident, assuring residents that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. “No stone will be left unturned,” he said, urging the public to remain calm.

Police spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, in a statement on Monday, explained that the violence broke out when an unidentified man came to Atikankan to distribute alms to the needy around 6:45 p.m.

Two groups of suspected hoodlums confronted the man, demanding money, which led to a violent altercation.

“During the clash, the victim, Deji Ojo, was stabbed and rushed to the hospital, where he later died,” Abutu said.

He confirmed that two suspects had been arrested and were undergoing interrogation, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend others who fled the scene.
