The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Jos chapter, has declared an indefinite strike over the non-payment of salaries for June 2025.
Chairman of the branch, Professor Jurbe Molwus, issued the directive to members in a message circulated Thursday night, stating that the industrial action would commence by 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2025, if the outstanding salary was not paid by midnight.
“This is to request all members to abstain from lectures and statutory meetings if our salary for June 2025 is not paid by 11:59 p.m. today, July 3,” the message read.
Molwus added that the decision aligns with a standing resolution of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC), which mandates branches to take action if salaries are not paid by the third day of a new month.
He also referenced a resolution adopted at the UNIJOS ASUU Congress on June 4 affirming that position.
He urged full compliance from members and noted that the branch’s strike monitoring team would be mobilised to ensure adherence.
