The Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State has ordered the remand of two of the four suspected grave diggers arrested at a cemetery in the state capital last month.

The Presiding Magistrate, Tope Aladejana, who gave the order after refusing the bail applications of the counsels to the two accused directed that their case file is sent to the Office of Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, had earlier informed the court that the offence committed by the accused was a bailable offence but prayed the court to permit him to forward the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, (DPP) for legal advice.

Counsel representing the defendants Femi Adetoye and Jide Agboola prayed the court to grant the accused bail since it is a bailable offence, but the Magistrate ruled that the bail order is not yet matured.

He, however, ordered the prosecutor to send the case file to the DPP office, for legal advice after which the application may be considered.

The two heads which were allegedly found with the suspects in a bag were brought to the court as exhibit caused some stir.

The accused were alleged to have been responsible for the removal of human skulls from a public cemetery in Akure, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state

The suspects who were grave diggers at the public cementary were said to be in possession of two human heads which had been severed from the body of the dead.
