Senator Olajide Ipinsagba: Two Years of Giant Strides in Ondo North Senatorial District

Two years into his tenure, Senator Olajide Ipinsagba has demonstrated visionary leadership defined by impactful projects and sustainable development across Ondo North. His commitment to tangible progress in education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, empowerment, and governance has transformed the district and improved the lives of its people.

Legislative Milestone: ICT University Establishment

Senator Ipinsagba sponsored and successfully passed the bill for the establishment of the ICT University in Ikare Akoko, a landmark achievement that provides the youth of Ondo North with access to cutting-edge digital education and skills development. A public hearing on the bill was held in December 2024, marking significant progress toward the university’s operationalization.

Inclusive Governance: First-Ever Town Hall Meeting

Breaking new ground, Senator Ipinsagba convened the first-ever Town Hall Meeting in Ondo North, engaging farmers, artisans, students, traditional leaders, women’s groups, and other stakeholders. This forum institutionalizes participatory governance, ensuring community voices directly influence policy and development priorities.

Agricultural Empowerment & Food Security

Phase 1–3 Agricultural Training: Empowered farmers and youths with modern mechanized farming techniques, significantly boosting productivity.

Distribution of Fertilizers, Seedlings, and Equipment: Provided critical inputs to enhance local food security and support sustainable agriculture.

Ongoing Support: Continuous training and grants to farmers to maintain growth momentum.

Vocational and Skills Development

Soap and Toiletries Production Training: Women trained and empowered with start-up funds.

Tailoring: Youths trained and equipped with sewing machines plus start-up capital.

Catering Services: Youths and women trained to build hospitality skills.

Digital Marketing & ICT Training: Provided free laptops and take-off grants to youths, fostering innovation and employment in technology sectors.

Education and Scholarship Initiatives

Over 1,000 Scholarships and Bursaries: Awarded to tertiary students across Ondo North.

Free JAMB Forms: Distributed annually to more than 1,000 students, removing financial barriers to higher education.

Support for Special and Technical Schools: Supplied materials and renovated facilities for schools serving physically challenged and visually impaired students.

Employment Facilitation and Youth Empowerment

Facilitated Federal Job Placements: Constituents secured employment in agencies such as NNPC, Police, Nigerian Army, Rural Electrification Agency, Customs, and Airforce.

NDDC Empowerment and Training: Organized batches of youth empowerment programs in Edo State and Akure.

Overseas Scholarships: Sponsored deserving indigenes for international studies.

Cash Grants: Provided to youth entrepreneurs to scale existing businesses.

Infrastructure and Community Development

Electricity & Solar Power: Installed transformers in Owo, Ikare, Isua, Ogbagi, and deployed solar lighting in remote communities and Adekunle Ajasin University Senate Building.

Water & Sanitation: Installed industrial boreholes in Okeagbe, Afo, Ikare, and Owo; constructed modern restrooms at Ikare Police Area Command.

Commerce & Roads: Constructed 28 lockup shops and a 1.5-kilometer road in Oka Akoko.

Education Facilities: Renovated classrooms at Ilemopo Comprehensive High School (Irun Akoko), A.U.D. School V (Ishakunmi Ikare Akoko), Amuye C.A.C. High School (Owo), and selected schools in Ose and Akoko North West.

Laboratory Equipment: Supplied to FMC ANNEX, Supare Akoko.

Hospital Equipment: Donated to State Specialist Hospital, Ikare.

Civic Centres: Completed in Ikare and Okeagbe; ongoing construction in Oka Akoko and Okia (Oka Akoko); upcoming projects include Owo Civic Center, Arigidi Civic Center, and the Oja Oba Shopping Complex in Ikare Akoko.

Palace Renovations: Ongoing renovation of Onisua Palace.

Additional Projects: Building of Agolo Hall (under construction), modern restrooms at police command, and distribution of hostel materials to technical schools.

Healthcare and Security Outreach

Medical Outreach Phases 1 & 2: Delivered free surgeries, eye treatments, and eyeglasses to thousands across all six LGAs.

Support for Owo Security Summit: Provided financial and material assistance to bolster community security.

Relief Distribution: Supplied aid to victims of rainstorms and other emergencies.

Senator Ipinsagba’s leadership is characterized by transparency, accountability, and a relentless focus on delivering value to Ondo North. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Procurement, he champions efficient resource allocation benefiting his constituents.

Despite challenges and misinformation campaigns, his office remains committed to constructive dialogue and collaborative development. The senator calls on all stakeholders to unite in advancing Ondo North’s growth trajectory.
