Two middle-aged individuals lost their lives in a tragic road accident involving a trailer in Fiditi, Oyo State.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening along the new Ibadan/Oyo Expressway, within the Afijio Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses said the victims were returning from a trip to Ibadan when the trailer crushed them.

According to reports, the motorcyclist died on the spot, while the passenger, a woman, was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

An eyewitness recounted, “The trailer driver was trying to avoid potholes when he lost control and ran over the victims. The man died instantly, and the woman passed away later in the hospital.”

Confirming the incident on Monday, Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (Operations) in the state, Bayode Olugbesan, said, “As of yesterday, only one death was confirmed.

However, the command has initiated a hospital follow-up since only medical personnel can officially declare a victim deceased.”
