President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service.

The appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), on behalf of the President.

Olumode’s appointment follows the retirement of the current Controller-General, Engineer Abdulganiyu Jaji, who is due to leave office on August 13, having reached the mandatory retirement age of 60.

According to the CDCFIB, Olumode brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

He began his career with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service headquarters.

The Board noted that he has completed all required in-service trainings, including command courses and specialized programmes both locally and internationally.

Olumode is also affiliated with several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

In its statement, the Board commended the outgoing Controller-General for his “remarkable contributions” to the growth and modernization of the Fire Service, lauding his “dedication and commitment” throughout his tenure.
