Troops of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South-South (Operation Delta Safe) have arrested 13 individuals following a series of raids on suspected hideouts of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Delta State.

The military operation, which was intelligence-driven, took place between July 26 and August 1, 2025. According to a statement released over the weekend by Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the raids were carried out in the Abacha Camp and Fulani Camp areas of Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

Captain Rijau disclosed that all 13 suspects were taken into custody and handed over to the 63 Military Intelligence Regiment for profiling. Following investigation, four individuals — Hossanah John, Obassey Maduabichi, Nwamini Nduka, and Aguyi Uchenna were confirmed to be IPOB/ESN collaborators.

The remaining nine suspects were found to have no connections with the group and are expected to be released to their families upon provision of sureties.

The confirmed collaborators, according to the statement, will be transferred to higher military authorities for further action.

Commander of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, praised the troops for their efforts and reiterated the Army’s commitment to ensuring peace and security in Delta State.
