Suspected gunmen have reportedly attacked the convoy of Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Special Duties, along the Port Harcourt–Enugu Expressway.
A counter-insurgency reporter, Makama Zagazola disclosed the development in a post on X formerly Twitter and sighted by PROMPT News.
He wrote: “Suspected criminals have opened fire on the convoy of Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, along the Port Harcourt–Enugu Expressway on Sunday.
“Sources said that the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. shortly after the convoy passed Ihube Junction, opposite the Imo State Produce Point, within Imo State territory.
“It was gathered that three armed men standing by the roadside suddenly shot at the Toyota Hilux escort vehicle conveying two police officers, damaging both the Hilux and Dr. Chukwu’s Toyota Highlander SUV.
“The sources confirmed that live bullets penetrated the Highlander where Dr. Chukwu was seated, but no injuries were recorded. Examination of the SUV at the station revealed four bullet holes.
“According to reports, the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m., shortly after the convoy passed Ihube Junction, opposite the Imo State Produce Point, within Imo State.
“Witnesses said three armed men standing by the roadside suddenly opened fire on the Toyota Hilux escort vehicle carrying two police officers, hitting both the escort vehicle and Dr. Chukwu’s Toyota Highlander SUV.
“Sources confirmed that live rounds penetrated the Highlander where Dr. Chukwu was seated, but no injuries were sustained. A later inspection of the SUV at the police station revealed four bullet holes.
