Boko Haram Suffers Heavy Casualties in Monguno Attack

The officers and men of the Army Super Camp located in Monguno have inflicted heavy casualties on the fighters of Boko Haram and ISWAP groups when the terrorist’s attack on Monguno town was professionally repelled by the troops on June 13, 2020.

In addition to the large number of insurgents killed, equipment of the terrorists were also captured and destroyed by the brave soldiers with the support of Air Task Force. The gallantry displayed by the troops thereafter made the residents of Monguno to go into wide celebration.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Burutai has commended the personnel of Army Super Camp in Monguno for the demonstration of bravery in the successful holding and dealing with the combined fighters of Boko Haram and ISWAP groups.

In a statement released on June 14, 2020 by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, the The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai was highly impressed by the high number of casualties inflicted on the insurgents as well as the number of Boko Haram terrorists that were captured. The COAS also commended the troops for the number of the terrorists equipment that were captured and destroyed.

According to the statement, the COAS also urged the brave officers and soldiers to remain firm and resolute in the final containment of the threats of insurgents in the North East.

Meanwhile, the COAS has further charged the Commander OPLD to consistently engage in massive offensive patrols to all identified terrorists’ locations and enclaves within the theatre in a bid to ensure that the terrorists are denied freedom of action and effect their elimination.

However, the Chief of Army Staff has also assured the troops and people of the North West especially those in Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara States that he would soon be there to ensure that the madness of the bandits is put in proper check. He was nonetheless impressed with the performance of the troops in the ongoing operations Accord and Hadarin Dani and urged them to sustain the momentum.
